Chapter Eleven

Devon sat there straddling Josh’s legs, impaled on his still-hard cock, her chest full of emotion. Her body still vibrated with the powerful orgasm she’d just had, still pulsed around him. When their eyes met, everything else faded away, and like he said, it was just them. She touched his face, bristly with stubbled whiskers, admiring the jut of his cheekbones, the shape of his jaw, the slope of his nose.

It was hard to believe she was there with him, in this beautiful hotel suite, having sex with him after all this time. After all those months of missing him, needing him, aching for him.

“Let’s go to bed,” he murmured.

She loved the sound of that. “Yes.” She wrinkled her nose as she eased off him. Separating from him was not enjoyable. She stood on legs that were surprisingly weak and shook back her hair. Josh rose too.

“I’ll just get rid of this,” he said, looking down at the condom he was removing. As she moved around him to walk toward the bedroom, he gave her ass a little tap, and she shot him a smile over her shoulder.

She pulled back the covers and slid between the sheets, cool against her overheated skin.

Josh.

She sighed and pressed her face into the pillow. She didn’t want to think about tomorrow and leaving or what was going to happen after this. Thoughts like that made her hurt inside. For now, she was there with him and after burning for him all week, they’d finally done it. And Jeebus Crust, it had been hot.

Sex with Josh had always been hot. She’d had other boyfriends before him, but with him she’d learned about her sexuality and explored it fearlessly and eagerly. It had never been the same with anyone else, even when it was good. She smiled into the pillow.

The bed dipped as Josh climbed in with her, his body big and warm. She let herself sink into the voluptuous heat and strength of him as he pulled her up against him and wrapped his arms around her.

“God, Dev,” he murmured. “All week, I’ve wanted to sleep in here with you so bad.”

All those nights alone in the big bed made her heart hurt. “Me too,” she whispered.

“What were we waiting for?”

She shifted a little to see his face. “This might not be the best idea.”

His mouth tightened a little. “Okay. Let’s deal with it.”

“Um…deal with what?” Her insides knotted.

“Come back to the harbor with me.”

She was silent as questions backed up in her brain. Go back to Promise Harbor? With you? For how long? Why? “I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“I just…” Why not? She swallowed. “I…”

“There is no good reason. You have no job to go back to. No reason to rush back to Boston.”

“Yes.” Her head spun a little. “I guess I could do that. It’s just…things are so awkward between me and my dad. And now with Susan.”

“Susan?”

“Yeah. His neighbor. And uh…girlfriend. I guess. I don’t know. He didn’t tell me about her, but when I got there last weekend, I discovered they’re in a…um…relationship.
